The G6/DCSIM Visual Information Section, located at Fort Indiantown Gap, provides DA photos at no charge, in the required digital format, for all Soldiers needing them for promotion, retention or other official purposes. The service is located in the Television Studio (Building 8-40). Photos are taken Tuesdays and Thursdays between 0800 and 1600 hrs. Photos are uploaded to the DA Photo Management Information System. They generally appear on your AKO account shortly after uploading.

Directions
From I-81, take the Fort Indiantown Gap exit and travel north on state route 934 (Fisher Avenue). You will come a traffic light. Make a right onto Service Road. Make another right onto Wiley Road and go to the top of the hill. Buildings 8-40 and 8-41 will be on your left.

To schedule a DA photo at Fort Indiantown Gap, visit www.vios.army.mil and fill out a work order. Photo appointments are scheduled between 0800 and 1600 hours.
PLEASE NOTE: "Walk-ins" can be taken on Tuesdays and Thursdays with prior coordination. Our schedule might allow for emergency walk-ins on other days of the week, but will also require prior coordination. Please call (717) 861-2021 to make such arrangements.
Important rules
To ensure an effective and efficient service, the following rules must be adhered to:
Soldiers are expected to be in proper Class A uniform. Changing rooms are available in the Television Studion (Building 8-40).
Arrive early if you are planning to change here. Be ready to be photographed at your designated appointment time.
Those who cannot make their scheduled appointment should call in advance to cancel, so their slot can be offered to someone else.
Although care will be taken in posing the subject, all aspects of the uniform, awards and decorations, and personal appearance are ultimately the responsibility of the individual. Any uncertainties need to be resolved beforehand, in consultation with unit first sergeants, administrative personnel and/or appropriate military regulations.
Sample official photo
Per AR 640-30, official photos will be taken in a properly fitted and pressed Class A Army green uniform. Basic branch insignia, all permanently authorized awards, decorations, combat and special skill badges, tabs, and if affiliated, regimental insignia will be worn. The shoulder sleeve insignia (patch) and distinctive unit insignia (crests) will also be worn, and are the only exceptions to the permanent rule.
PLEASE NOTE: Recent changes in the AR state that photographers may not retouch the photograph in any way. No one may clip, stuff or otherwise alter the uniforms’ appearance in any manner. At Fort Indiantown Gap, we are strictly adhering to this change in the AR 640-30.
