Command Sergeant Major Christopher S. Kepner presently serves as the command sergeant major of the 28th Infantry Division headquartered in Harrisburg. He advises the division commander and subordinate brigade commanders on all enlisted matters within the Division, primarily focusing his efforts not only on all matters pertaining to the enlisted Soldiers of the Division, but also ensuring that all levels of command are responsive to Soldier needs, concerns and welfare.

Command Sergeant Major Kepner resides in Fulton County, Pennsylvania. He entered active duty in November of 1980 and after completing Advanced Infantry Training and Airborne school he was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division as a rifleman. He served in various infantry positions and after 4 years was subsequently assigned as a Squad Leader with the 10th Mountain Division.

After completing 7 years of active duty service Command Sergeant Major Kepner was honorably discharged and joined the 104th Long Range Surveillance Detachment of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. While here he was promoted to the position of Detachment Sergeant, a position in which he served for 8 years. In 1999 he was assigned as the First Sergeant of Delta Company, 1-111th Associators, and in 2003 deployed to Kosovo with Task Force Associator as the Operations Sergeant Major. Upon his return he was selected for Command Sergeant Major and assigned to the 2nd Battalion 112th Infantry Stryker. During his tenure with the 2nd Battalion 112th Infantry Stryker, Command Sergeant Major Kepner participated in the unprecedented transformation and subsequent deployment to Iraq of the only Stryker Brigade Combat Team in the National Guard. Command Sergeant Major Kepner assumed responsibility of the 28th Combat Aviation Brigade on April 1st, 2010. In his civilian career he is a Regional Manager for Schneider National’s Northeast Intermodal operations in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.

Command Sergeant Major Kepner is a graduate of numerous education, leadership and qualification courses, to include: the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, American Intercontinental University receiving a bachelor's degree in business administration and Duquesne University receiving a master's degree in leadership.
