COMMAND SERGEANT MAJOR BRIAN W. TODERO
Command Sergeant Major, 28th Infantry Division
Command Sergeant Major Brian W. Todero presently serves as the command sergeant major of the 28th Infantry Division headquartered in Harrisburg. He advises the division commander and subordinate brigade commanders on all enlisted matters within the Division, primarily focusing his efforts not only on all matters pertaining to the enlisted Soldiers of the Division, but also ensuring that all levels of command are responsive to Soldier needs, concerns and welfare.
Sergeant Major Todero was born in Johnstown and graduated from Conemaugh Township Area High School in June 1982. He entered the U.S. Navy in October 1982 and completed Basic Training and Machinist Mate “A” School at Great Lakes Naval Base, Ill. He graduated from the Navy Nuclear Power School in February 1984. Sergeant Major Todero successfully completed a six-year Navy enlistment and received an Honorable Discharge from the Navy in October 1988, at which time he enlisted in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard (PAARNG).
In Sergeant Major Todero’s first PAARNG assignment he served as operations sergeant at the Region 1 Non Commissioned Officer Academy. He transferred to the Pennsylvania JFHQ in April 1989, where he completed the Infantryman MOS Qualification Course and the subsequent levels of NCOES to attain the rank of master sergeant in December 1996. In February 1997, he became the first sergeant of Company C, 1-111th Infantry (Stryker) in Kutztown, where he served until April of 2000, when he was selected as the battalion command sergeant major. He has served as the command sergeant major of the 55th Brigade Combat Team. He assumed the responsibilities as the division command sergeant major in June 2007.
Sergeant Major Todero is a graduate of numerous military education, leadership and qualification courses, to include: Primary Leadership Development Course; Basic Non Commissioned Officer Course; Advance Non Commissioned Officer Course; and the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy.
Sergeant Major Todero’s awards and decorations include: Meritorious Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster; Army Commendation Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters; Army Achievement Medal; Navy Achievement Medal; Navy Good Conduct Medal; Armed Forces Reserve Component Achievement Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters; Navy Expeditionary Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Sea Service Deployment Medal with one Bronze Star; Armed Forces Reserve Medal with Hourglass; NCO Professional Development Ribbon (forth award); Army Service Ribbon; Armed Forces Reserve Medal; Pennsylvania Meritorious Service Medal; Pennsylvania Service Ribbon with two Silver Stars; Thomas J. Stewart Medal; and the Thomas White Medal.
Sergeant Major Todero resides in Pine Grove, with his wife Ruth, son Nicholas, and daughter Jesse.
