1st BN (AR), 166th REG (RTI)

Our battalion is located at Ft. Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania. In addition, we have training companies located in West Virginia and Vermont. We conduct MOS-T transition training for Cavalry Scouts (19D10/20) and we are also responsible for 11B MOST and 11B Transition course. We conduct the Basic Noncommissioned Officer Courses for both Armor and Cavalry (BNCOC) (19D30 and 19K30). We are also conducting Maneuver Senior Leaders Course for 11 and 19 CMF. This was formally referred to as the Advanced Noncommissioned Officer Course (ANCOC), (19D40) for the Cavalry Scout. We are also responsible for the 11B MOST and 11B Transition course.

All training is conducted in a small group environment according to TASS standards (Total Army School System) that mirror the Armor Center Courses at Fort Knox, Kentucky. The training utilizes the current doctrine and training materials, experienced certified instructors, and equipment compatible with the training requirements and your unit of assignment. Recently, we have integrated the current operating environment (COE) issues that Soldiers will encounter upon mobilization to a theater operations area.

We conduct training in or near the garrison where the students are located during the entire period covered by training orders. We offer on-post transportation to support your school activities as well as to the Recreation Center, PX and clothing sales. Regimental facilities within provide you with the administrative and logistical support services necessary to make your enrollment very rewarding. In addition, we provide access to computers and other off-duty amenities to allow you to maintain contact with home and the world.

Our goal at First Battalion is to ensure your training is productive, professional and sets you on a path for continued success in the military. Your goal needs to include absorbing the material presented, retaining the knowledge we provide and applying it when you return to your unit. Your end of course critique is the benchmark for improving our courses, so please be candid.
